MedicWave will start this year's conference tour at Joint Conference of German Mass Spectrometry Society and Polish Mass Spectrometry Society, that is taking place between 4—7 March 2012 in Poznań, Poland. The conference programme is very promising and notable guests from all around the globe will give lectures during this event.
This joint conference is an opportunity not only to present our latest software packages, but also to discuss data analysis methods. We are also looking forward to learn about advances in mass spectrometry and to hear about users expectations of MS software.
We are looking forward to meeting you there!
Market of biomarkers is currently going through a major growth. The drive for that is the demand of biomarker based drug development and diagnosis. To fulfill this demand numerous companies and research facilities have been joining their forces to provide novel platforms in metabolomics, proteomics, and transcriptomics.
Nowadays we can also observe a trend of supporting biomarkers market from government agencies worldwide, including the US FDA, as well as from pharmaceutical companies.
Alzheimer's has become the sixth-leading cause of death in the U.S. (the fifth-leading cause of death if you taking under consideration only people over 65). For now Alzheimer's cannot be prevented or slowed down in progress. One of the latest reports shows that Americans are scared of Alzheimer’s only a little bit less than of a cancer.
Unfortunately for now the only definitive way to diagnose Alzheimer’s is through a brain autopsy post-mortem. Australian scientists from CSIRO focused on finding the method of early-stage Alzheimer's detection – even before memory loss and thinking process disorder are noticeable.
Team of researchers led by Dr. Samantha Burnham has developed a simple blood test for Alzheimer disease. The test monitors the level of nine proteins that appear to be correlated with amyloid level in the brain.
