We have released our new version of our products for analyzing MALDI and LC-MS data. We decided to change its name to Spectrolyzer to make it better reflect our focus on making best software for analyzing spectra.

There’s quite a lot of changes from the previous version, you can find all of them in the release notes. However I’d like to focus on two major improvements which we hope will make your life easier.

Metabolites

In our previous work we focused on proteomics. This is an important field, yet not the only one where liquid chromatography is used. We were getting questions whether our software could help you explore metabolomics data. Now it can.

After you import raw metabolomics data from your LC-MS machine, you can apply common preprocessing transformations like noise filtering or peak picking (check full list), then group features, identify molecules hidden under features using METLIN database or look for potential biomarkers using several statistical methods. This is just an example of what can be done, please read our product page for more information.

MALDI identification

We have worked with MALDI a lot in recent times and Spectrolyzer knows quite a lot about how to explore information hidden in MALDI spectra. Our application has now been extended to work with Mascot to identify proteins in those spectra. Of course, before identification additional operations are needed: baseline subtraction and noise filtering from spectra as well as proper peak picking... but if you follow us this is not a news for you, as our software does that for a long time now.
